Both her sisters were born in Fiji.  The family moved back to Melbourne where the two sons were born.

Her family remember Muriel as a good looking women who always dressed well.  She was softly spoken and charming.

It appears that Muriel moved to Canberra to work in the Federal Public Service in the late 1920s.  In 1928 she is recorded on the electoral roll as being a clerk living at Beauchamp House.

EH and Muriel lived at Torres Street, Red Hill in Canberra.

In 1935, they had a daughter, Judith.  Sadly, Judith died in 1940, aged 5.
